With four children of his own, Dr. Stephen Ames knows first hand how to help kids grow up healthy. “It’s important to identify each child’s strengths and emphasize them,” he says. “The best way to foster good self esteem is to allow children to master the things they already do well.”

Dr. Ames grew up in New Orleans and attended medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. After completing his residency at UTMB Children’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas, he began his solo pediatric medical practice in Texas. He recently relocated to Oregon and joined Oregon Pediatrics in 2004. He is board certified in pediatrics.
