As fall leaves have already started to change colors and dusk brings a chill to the air, we are reminded that the “Flu Season” has already begun. Are you prepared?
The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recommends that all persons 6 months-of-age and over receive vaccination against the flu each and every year. Click here for more CDC Flu information: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2013-2014.htm
Months in advance Clackamas & Oregon Pediatrics places orders for flu vaccine based on the projected need of our patients. Vaccine manufacturers and the State of Oregon determine when we will receive our orders and we have already received some forms of the vaccine and have conducted several Walk-In Flu Shot Clinics.
Our Walk-In Flu Shot Clinics are now over for the season, but flu shots are still available during any office visit or with a scheduled “vaccine only” nurse visit. Please call if you are interested in scheduling to receive a flu vaccination.
- Before your child receives any flu vaccine, tell us if she/he is allergic to egg.
- Depending on your child’s medical history, you may be asked to wait in the office for an observation period after receiving the vaccine.
- Prevention is the best medicine, so wash hands thoroughly and cover those coughs.
Please ask us at your next visit or call to schedule a time for your child to receive the flu vaccine.
