I view therapy as a collaborative process in which you, as the patient, are the expert of your own life and I am an empathetic and supportive guide. With you willing to explore the past experiences that are relevant to seeking therapy today, I provide reflections to offer alternative perspectives for possible change. This is a process of discovery within your systems of influence, such as your family. Therapy is unlike other forms of healthcare in this way, and I strive to create a brave space in which vulnerability is supported as a strength.

About Samantha

Samantha "Sammy" Rött (pronounced RUHT), M.A., Registered Associate

I believe that our past informs our present, in how we see, feel, hear, and experience things. From the beginning, we try and make sense in our minds of everything around us with the sensations in our bodies. We are later influenced by our families, schools, peers, and greater community. I find behavior to be an important opening to explore the underlying feelings an individual is experiencing in response to others. My approach to therapy primarily follows Integrated Therapy utilizing Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, Attachment, and Family Systems theories.

I am a Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) Registered Associate with the state of Oregon. I received my Master of Art in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling from George Fox University with a focus in child-parent relationship, sand tray and play therapies as well as taking specialized trauma response services courses. I am practicing under individual and group supervision by Richard Schultz, LMFT, at Oregon Pediatrics-Clackamas and Happy Valley locations. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration from University of Oregon. I have a background working in various capacities within healthcare for over a decade and have also worked in child caregiving roles.

My pronouns are she, her, hers. I would be happy to know your preferred pronouns should you wish to share as we begin therapy together.
