World Heart Day

World Heart Day (September 29th) is an opportunity for everyone to stop and consider how best to use ❤️ for humanity, for nature, and for you. Beating cardiovascular disease is something that matters to every beating heart

World Heart Day is a great opportunity to reflect on the importance of heart health. Heart disease is something that matters to every beating heart, and we think it's important to take care of your heart in a way that feels right for you. In honor of World Heart Day, we'd like to share some of our favorite ways to keep your family ❤️ healthy!

We know that sometimes it can be hard to get started on an exercise regimen or make a change in your diet, but we're here to help! We've got tips on how to start exercising, how eating healthy can make you feel better physically, and even how to make small changes in your daily routine that will help you stay healthy.

Introduce them to Omega-3s

One way to do this is by creating a weekly menu that includes heart-healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. Studies have shown that eating a diet rich in these foods can help lower your risk of developing heart disease! Make sure you're getting enough omega-3 fatty acids in your diet by eating fish like salmon or mackerel or taking fish oil supplements. Omega-3s are essential for a healthy heart.

Keep them moving

Maintain a healthy body weight by exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Children can experience bursts or energy - allow them to cultivate that energy through fun-filled physical activities. Not only do you create opportunities to strengthen their heart, but you’re making memories while doing it!

Don’t say “Yes” to stress

Another way to show your love for your family’s❤️ is by taking time out of your day to decompress from the stress of life—mental stress can also create physical stress on your heart! It might sound counterintuitive, but taking time out of your day to relax and recharge together will actually help keep your bodies healthy, and is a great opportunity to bond!

Practice Kindness

A happy heart begins with a happy mind and body. Teaching your child to practice kindness not only to others but to the environment and themselves can help to reduce stress and lead to long-term health benefits, including a healthier heart. Teaching them things like how to share with others, recycle, or compliment themselves are all great ways to teach them how to practice kindness!

Keep it Going

While World Heart Day only comes around once a year, it’s important to remember you can both teach and practice these tips with your family any day!
